Adieu

This is a post I wasn’t expecting to write. Not now anyway.

But I think it’s finally time. To stop this blog.

If I’m honest, I think this has been brewing for a while but the time feels right. My family are growing up and I need to start learning to be something other than a mum.

When I began this blog, just over four years ago, I knew this hobby wouldn’t last forever. I also thought that I would know….when the time was right, to draw this particular chapter to a close.

Actually this has been more than a chapter, it’s been a book.

I adore this blog and always will. It holds memories that are so dear to me that I would never, ever press the ‘delete’ button. But what I will say, is that it’s time to say goodbye as it stands.

This book has ended and it’s time to start a new one.

Maybe.

Thank you so much for being part of our journey – the encouraging comments and solidarity from fellow bloggers and parents have been such a comfort and joy. I had absolutely no idea when starting out what this would become and I’m overwhelmed. Truly. I will miss you all, more than you will ever know.

At this moment I don’t know what the future holds or what the next chapter looks like. But what I do know is that it’s time to say goodnight to this particular writing platform. I might start up a new one at some point and I promise to keep you posted.

Until then….

Adieu.

I’m a teenager and I heard that you can actually get paid for things like this. I’m experienced with computers and have good literature skills and I’m sure I can write successful blogs/articles.. . On a different (sort of) topic, would I be able to join affiliate programs?.

Oh Suz, I’m so sad and will miss your little dose of down to earth, sensible musings and advice. You know how I always looked to them as a guide of what’s in store for us in the future potentially. I have adored visiting here, and adored meeting and getting to know you too. I’ll be thinking of you lots, and really hope that there’s a way to keep in touch away from blogs and blogging. Much love sweet lady xx

Feel so sad reading this Suzanne! It has been such a lovely, lively, wise and witty little spot to pop along to. But I do understand your reasons, and know one day I’ll probably find myself in the same boat.
I will miss that sense of “touching in” every week.
Let’s get together in real life very soon…
    Much love,
    Claire X

Wow. What a courageous decision. It can often be easier to just carry on with something because you’re used to it. To stop, take stock and move on to the next thing takes a lot of bravery. Much respect.

I am sad to read this as I love your blog – but equally am at exactly the same point. While I haven’t knocked it on the head completely, I have accepted a new and much wanted job that starts in September and will mean I am out the house the whole school day – not sure I will have time to blog, or the inclination even, and in all honesty my heart hasn’t been in it for sometime now as I started to plan what to do next now Syd had started school. It has been fun hasn’t it, I have loved it and the people I have met through it have been amazing. I am glad we are friends on social media so I shall still be able to keep up with you and your beautiful family. Loads of luck for whatever comes next! Xxx

I’m so sad to read this, but I completely understand why and respect you for taking that decision. I genuinely feel it’s a decision I may never take! I see myself still blogging away to no readers in 15 or 20 years time!
The blogosphere won’t feel quite right without you and I will miss you both as a blogger and a friend. Please stay in touch, if you can, but I will also respect your decision if you feel that isn’t possible right now. x

PS Thank you for popping back to the blogosphere to say goodbye properly. I thought you might just stop and disappear and never draw a proper line under it. I’m so pleased to hear you would never hit ‘delete’ on your blog! x

I’m a pretty new reader to your blog and have really enjoyed it. That said, you know yourself when it’s time to move on and do new things.
So from someone at the start of this blogging journey I wish you lots of luck as you come to the end of yours and open a new chapter of your life xxxx

Oh lovely this has made me feel so sad, I’m a little gutted. I have been reading this blog for a good few years often just lurking rather than commenting and it’s one of my favourites. You will definitely be missed. Good luck with everything xx

Oh wow, that is sad but I also completely understand why you’re stopping. Your blog has been amazing Suzanne, you should feel very proud of what youve achieved through it (though you’ll never really know how!) and how you’ve encouraged so many through the ups and downs of parenting. I’ll miss you here. Ive been in the process of stopping my own blog too. In fact i would’ve stopped it sooner but i’m waiting to have my new writers website (and accompanying blog) fully up and running before stopping Everyone Else is Normal. The puppy has put that project back a little. I have so enjoyed getting to know you and your family through your blog. And know we’ll keep in touch through social media anyway. Sxx

Oh Suzanne, I’m so sad about this. Yours has always been the blog which I’ve relied on to guide me through the years when my boys are older. Thank heavens for FB (and I rarely say that) so I can quiz you on another platform instead xxx
