About Us

My name is Suzanne and first and foremost I am mum to 3 gorgeous children.  They rock my world in a good way but shake it to the core at times!

This blog is about the highs and lows of modern day family life, what we get up to and all that I’m learning about parenting along the way. I am not afraid to admit that I sometimes find it a struggle, feeling out of my depth and pretty under-equipped. I not only aim to share some on-the-job tips but also gain some from readers. None of us are experts, right?

Let me tell you a little bit about the stars of this here blog. After all, it wouldn’t be anything without them would it?!

The Teenager – Born in 2000.

Daughter playing flute

My firstborn has wavy brown hair, chocolate brown eyes and is of a petite build. But let me tell you, what she lacks in stature, she makes up for with her mouth!

She has an infectious zest for life and would experiment with every after-school activity going if I wasn’t there to put the breaks on every now and again! Currently learning saxophone, flute and piano, she isn’t very often found sitting still.

Her smile lights up the room and she likes nothing better than a good giggle with her close friends. An animal lover through and through, she spends much of her time down at the riding stables or teaching ‘It’ new tricks.

The Teenager is focused and driven with an in-built determination to succeed. This girl promises to go far in life.

The Drama Queen – Born in 2001

This child of mine was born to be a teenager (make of that what you will!). She has long, wavy brown hair and dark brown puppy dog eyes – perfect for the much-practiced Instagram selfie!

She thrives on social interaction and when not physically with her friends, she can be found on Skype in her bedroom, catching up on the latest school gossip.

The Drama Queen loves a good argument (I’ve certainly met my match) and will probably make a very good lawyer one day. Failing that, her amazing talent for observation, combined with a wicked sense of humour, would make her a great stand-up comedienne!  Throwing herself into singing and drama, she really does thrive on an audience.

School is probably her least favourite place in the world but she’s only there for the “lolz” of which there seems to be plenty!

The Boy – Born in 2004

It took us a while to make the decision to have a third child. Would the nay-sayers be right about a third one upsetting the balance? Would we have another girl? Could the OH cope with an all female household especially in later life when hormones will be going through the roof?! Then this little bundle of joy joined our family.

The Boy is very like his dad: quiet but determined; compliant but not a push over. He is the easy one – am I allowed to say that? He has a quick mind, loves to learn and enjoys trying new things. More recently he has developed an obsession with football, joining our local team having never played before.

He is an avid Chelsea fan, owns a friendly gecko called Reggie and devours books of all genres. The Boy still loves a cuddle (when his mates aren’t watching) and is always willing to please.

‘It’  – Born in 2010

Cairn Terrier Face

Last but not least is our crazy, mischievous, all-round scamp of a dog. As if our world wasn’t messy enough, we decided to throw a dog into the mix! We wouldn’t have it any other way.

    Hi Suzanne,

I am working on a GCSE textbook for Pearson Education and would really like to include your letter published on the BBC website, an article about sexting, in our book. I think it’s a really important message for this age group, so please get in touch so I can give you more information about what we propose. Hope to hear from you soon.

How lovely Anna, thank you! I have quite a few regular readers with younger children. I think the aim is they’re learning how NOT to do it!

My mommyhood timeline is almost the same. The boys in 2000 and 2001. The pause… and the girl toward the end of 2003. However, we added an “it”(a golden retriever) in 2002 to see if that curbed my want for a third child :)It obviously didn’t!!
